Soft Shadows Improved

E-mail Print PDF

The shadow occlusion visualized

The soft shadows are generated using 5 samples from a shadow map in a cross shaped pattern, which is rotated by a "random" rotation around its center for every pixel. This generates a noisy, diffuse shadow border, which looks a lot more natural than one taken from a static pattern.
